Alternative Utility Services, Inc. purchases 31 Renewable Energy Certificates in support of wind energy.
Alternative Utility Services, Inc. (AUS) reaches their 2014 sustainability goals with the purchase of 31 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs); covering 100% of the energy used in their operations and sales divisions.
The AUS purchase of the environmental attributes of 31 megawatt hours (31,000 kWh) of renewable energy generation equates to 34,685 pounds, or 15.7 metric tons of CO2 NOT being produced.
These measurements are equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas or CO2 emissions from:
- 3 Passenger vehicles
- 6 tons of waste sent to the landfill
- 1,770 gallons of gasoline consumed, or
- 412 incandescent lamps switched to CFLs
“As an EPA Green Power Partner,” said Fritz Kreiss, president of AUS, “we are proud to support the development of alternative energy through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates. RECs are yet another way to reduce our carbon footprint and meet our sustainability goals.”
The 100% wind Green-e Certified American Wind RECs were purchased from Renewable Choice Energy, recognized by the U.S. EPA as a Green Power Supplier of the Year for 2014.
