Summary: Chicago residents are feeling frustrated and confused about Integrys Energy’s new rate structure which now separates customers into 10 usage-based categories. Customers living in multi-family units will pay anywhere from $3.99 per month to $22.36 per month in fixed monthly charges in addition to the Integrys energy charge – increasing the total price to compare. Single-family homes will pay between $19.99 per month and $29.99 per month, depending on their power usage. As a result of the rate structure, about 30% of Chicago residents’ bills will be higher.
