Helping hotels for over a decade
Feb 27, 2014

One of the industries Alternative Utility Services (AUS) specializes in is hospitality, showing hotel properties and ownership how to reduce their energy consumption and costs. One energy consultant in particular has made helping hotels her primary focus for over 10 years.

In a recent interview on Greening the Inn, our very own Kathie Bozzone discusses the advantages of working with an energy consultant and why it’s one of the very best business decisions hoteliers can possibly make.

Kathie emphasizes that AUS energy consultants are not ‘Sales’ people. “Sales people,” she says, “usually represent a single provider and will do everything they can to try and convince hoteliers that the provider they represent is the best option for them, even if it isn’t.”

Kathie explains that being an independent consultant grants her the freedom to not be biased towards any one supplier. Unlike a sales person, she’s free to bid out to multiple suppliers and provide her clients with true apples-to-apples comparisons of prices and terms to find the solutions that best meet a hotel property’s needs.

During the interview, she also reveals some of the biggest opportunities for hotels today in regards to energy, as well as one of the biggest mistakes hoteliers make when a hotel changes ownership. Be sure to check out the full interview here.
