Lake Barrington Community Homeowners Association chooses new private residential opt-in electric aggregation program over the Village’s Government Plan.
When the Village of Barrington prepared to move forward with a Municipal Energy Aggregation program, the Lake Barrington Community Home Owners Association (HOA) board and property manager turned to Alternative Utility Services, Inc (AUS) for their expertise. Lake Barrington Community is a home development of all electric homes. The HOA was advised by AUS to put their load out for a private aggregation bid. Otherwise, they would find their all-electric homes subsidizing the rates of the other residences in the Government Aggregation through the Village of Barrington. AUS was then contracted to develop and roll out an opt-in residential aggregation program to deliver savings for the 1,317 home owners in their development.
AUS assembled the RFP information of the association’s electric loads and delivered a discounted electric savings program of 36% off the local electric utility’s rate. By aggregating the entire load of all 1,317 electric space heat homes, AUS was also able to deliver pricing that beat the Government Energy Aggregation number from the Village by 7%. In addition, residents were provided with easy online sign-up, paper copy options, multiple terms and a negotiated option to leave at any time without penalty.
“Although opt-in residential programs are much more difficult to administer, we were able to aggregate common load profiles to maximize savings for Lake Barrington Community members,” said Fritz Kreiss, president of AUS.
Alternative Utility Services, Inc. provides Government and private energy aggregations and consulting in deregulated markets in over 20 states across the country.
